2012 W PCGS MS69 FS $1 American SILVER Eagle FIRST STRIKE Struck At West Point
This listing is for a freshly minted 2012 -(W) Uncirculated American Silver Eagle graded as MS 69 by PCGS with the FIRST STRIKE insert reflecting the "W" and "Struck at West Point" on the insert as shown in the stock photo. This is the non-mint marked West Point version coin. This style label marks a break from past labels that didn't feature a struck at location. This year there are 2 non minted locations being noted for full, strapped submitted boxes of ASE's- San Francisco and West Point.
Since its introduction to the public in 1986, and now 27 years later, the US Mint has created the most popular modern day collectible in the American Silver Eagle Program.
The design is based on Adolph A. Weinman's 1916 "Walking Liberty" half dollar, widely considered one of the most beautiful American coins ever minted. The coin is over 1 1/2 inches (40mm) in diameter and contains 1 troy ounce of fine silver (99.9%). It is legal U.S. tender with a one dollar face value - of course the value of the silver content far exceeds the one dollar face value so you'll never see one in circulation.
